Privacy Policy

How we handle your information on Photography Launchpad.

Plain-language privacy policy covering what we collect, how we use it, and how to opt out. Last updated: 2026-05-22.

01

What we collect

We collect three categories of data:

Information you give us directly — your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter or request our lead magnet. We do not collect names, phone numbers, or payment information; we don't sell anything directly.

Information collected automatically when you visit — through Google Analytics 4 (see below), which records pageviews, referring URLs, approximate location (country/region from IP), browser type, device type, and time-on-page. IP addresses are anonymized before storage. Through Cloudflare (our hosting provider), basic server logs are kept for ~30 days for security and uptime monitoring.

Information from affiliate clicks — when you click an affiliate link to a retailer like Amazon, B&H, or Adorama, that retailer sets its own cookie to track whether you make a purchase. We don't see what you bought; we only see aggregated commission reports.
02

How we use it

Email addresses — to send you the newsletter and lead magnet you requested. We don't sell, rent, or share email lists with anyone, ever.

Analytics data — to understand which articles are useful, which topics need more coverage, and where readers come from. Decisions about what to publish are informed by aggregate trends, not individual readers.

Affiliate data — to understand which recommendations are useful and to receive commissions from partner retailers. We never see your individual purchase information.
03

Cookies and tracking technologies

Google Analytics 4 — we use GA4 (measurement ID configured per-site) to understand traffic patterns. GA4 uses cookies and identifiers (typically _ga, _ga_*) to distinguish users and sessions. IP anonymization is enabled. GA4 data is retained for 26 months by default. You can opt out of GA tracking entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser, or by using any standard browser ad/tracker blocker. We respect these signals.

Affiliate cookies — clicking an affiliate link sets a cookie at the destination retailer (Amazon, B&H, Adorama, etc.), not on our site. These cookies typically last 24 hours to 90 days depending on the program. Read each retailer's privacy policy for details.

We do not use — Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, retargeting pixels, marketing automation cookies, or any third-party advertising identifiers.
04

Affiliate partner programs

Photography Launchpad participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, B&H Photo Video Affiliate Program, and Adorama Affiliate Program. When you click an affiliate link, you may be subject to the destination retailer's own privacy policy and cookie practices. Read our full affiliate disclosure for more on how affiliate links work and how they're marked.
05

Third-party services we use

Cloudflare — hosting, DNS, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare receives request data (IP, user agent, requested URL) and may set security cookies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Google Analytics 4 — analytics. See Google's privacy policy.

Sanity — content management system. Sanity does not receive any end-user data; it only serves our published content.

Email service provider — when we wire up the newsletter (see status note below), your email address will be stored with that provider. We will update this policy and notify subscribers when that changes.
06

Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you have these rights:

Access — you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you (which is limited to your email address if you've subscribed).
Correction — you can correct any inaccurate data we hold.
Deletion — you can ask us to delete your data. For email subscribers, the unsubscribe link in every newsletter handles this automatically.
Portability — you can request your data in a portable format.
Objection — you can object to processing of your data for direct marketing purposes (just unsubscribe).

If you're in the EU or UK, you have these rights under the GDPR. If you're in California, you have these rights under the CCPA. To exercise any of them, email [email protected] from the address you subscribed with.
07

Data retention

Email addresses — retained until you unsubscribe, then deleted from active lists within 30 days. Suppression lists (to prevent accidental re-add) are kept indefinitely with email hashes only.
Analytics data — Google Analytics retention is set to 26 months, after which user-level data is automatically deleted by Google. Aggregate trend data may be retained longer.
Server logs (Cloudflare) — approximately 30 days.
Affiliate data — we only see aggregate commission reports from partner retailers; we don't store individual click or purchase data ourselves.
08

International data transfers

Photography Launchpad is hosted in the United States via Cloudflare's global network. If you access the site from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. Google Analytics data is also processed in the US. Google has implemented Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for EU/UK data transfers — see Google's data transfer framework for details.
09

Children's privacy

Photography Launchpad is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as our practices evolve (e.g. when we wire up an email service provider, or add a new analytics tool). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. For material changes (e.g. new categories of data collected), we will notify subscribers via email. Past versions are available on request.
